Named for the woman known as, “The Mother of the Civil Rights Movement,” Rosa Parks (1913-2005), became a part of history when she refused to give up her seat for a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama bus in December, 1955. Rosa was arrested for her defiance of the segregation order, and was part of the organization of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The success of which launched nationwide efforts to end racial segregation of public facilities.
