Known as "The Flying Housewife", Fanny Blankers-Koen (1918-2004), was a Dutch athlete who won 4 gold medals at the Olympic Games in London, in 1948. Fanny's athletic feats occurred AFTER she had two children, which assisted in undermining the popular notion that being a mothers, and being an elite athlete were mutually exclusive.
